Found this beautiful ceramic sign while we were at a garage sale. It is the same rich tones as our other sign. I hope it doesn't break.
When I told the lady at the garage sale that I wanted to decorate my
coop, she laughed and then told me about her chicken-raising days!
The metal kite in front of the enclosure is on a stake. It balances on a sturdy pin, so it spins ever so daintily and wiggles like a kite. It is fun to watch.
The roost we built for the girls is getting a lot of use. The weather has been so hot here they did not want to sleep in the coop. It took a couple of days, but they have been sleeping on the roost all night long. The chicken poo is pretty easy to clean up, also.
Crystal, our Buff Orpington, was the first to lay an egg! She has
been quite vocal the last couple of days, eating and drinking a lot, and
walking a bit funny.
This morning she went into the coop and laid her first egg. She was pretty loud. When we collected the egg, she was following us to make sure we knew the egg was hers.
